The original barn had become structurally unstable and an insurance company was brought in to administer the repairs. The schedule of works was agreed with the structural engineer and the insurance company. This involved the removal of all tiles and structural repairs to numerous oak rafters and some of the oak trusses. Whilst in construction the client carried out betterment works and we introduced a multi-layered roof insulation which enabled us to keep the ridge height at the existing level whilst keeping the rafters exposed to the underside.
